Suriname gets new Chinese ambassador
Chinese Ambassador Lin Ji presented his credentials to Surinamese President Chan Santokhi on November 4, 2024.
President Santokhi said it was a solemn and meaningful ceremony. "Our friendship with China goes back many years, and we have supported each other in various ways. Together we have set up beautiful projects that will contribute to our development and benefit our community."
This meeting marks, according to the Surinamese President, not only a continuation of those partnerships but also the beginning of a new phase in the Suriname-China relations.

"Strengthened cooperation allows us to work on important projects in areas such as trade, infrastructure, and sustainable development. This offers opportunities for a more stable and prosperous future for both Suriname and China," he added.
Santokhi said he looks forward to achieving common goals and further strengthening diplomatic ties with China and wished the diplomat best of luck in discharging his diplomatic duties.
Meanwhile, the Chinese ambassador said as the 15th Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of Suriname, he will work with Surinamese side to fully implement the important consensus reached by the heads of two states.
"...to promote the development of the China-Suriname strategic cooperative partnership, and benefit the two countries and their peoples," he remarked.
