Open house event hosted at Chinese Embassy in Dominica

The Chinese Embassy in Dominica held an Open House event, inviting about 70 children from Roseau and Chinese Community in Dominica to experience Chinese culture on July 22.

MP and Housing Minister Hon. Melissa Poponne-Skerrit , Chinese Ambassador H.E. Chu Maoming, all Embassy diplomats, and representatives from Chinese institutions and enterprises in Dominica attended the event. The event was also covered by major local media.

Ambassador Chu welcomed the children to the embassy and gave a brief introduction to Chinese traditional culture and achievements in modernization.

He encouraged the children to engage with Chinese culture, visit China in the future and help contribute to the development of their hometown with the knowledge they gain in China.

Hon. Melissa Poponne-Skerrit thanked the Embassy for organizing the event, stating that China is a friend indeed who stands with Dominica through hardships. She hoped that the children would earnestly experience Chinese culture during the event and continue to cherish the friendship between Dominica and China.

The children learned Chinese together, enjoyed Huai opera and dance performances, and participated in group activities such as paper-cutting, calligraphy, dumpling-making, having a wonderful time immersed in the atmosphere of Chinese culture.
