More Dominican students granted scholarships to pursue studies in China

Another batch of Dominican students have been granted the opportunity to pursue university education through the Chinese Government Scholarship Programme.

Six of the students received their letters at a ceremony held at the Chinese Embassy on Wednesday. They will join other students who are currently in China pursuing their studies in various fields.

At the occasion, Chinese Ambassador Chu Maoming and President of Dominica Sylvanie Burton presented the scholarship recipients with their acceptance letters.

Darron Lloyd, the Parliamentary Secretary, Octavia Alfred, the Dominican Minister of Education, and representatives from other ministries were also in attendance.

Present and past scholarship recipients as well as delegates from Chinese universities visiting Dominica also attended the occasion.

All scholarship students in China will get living expenses, comprehensive health insurance, and full tuition reimbursement from the scholarship.

Notably, the Chinese government's scholarship programme has assisted over 150 Dominican students to pursue bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in various fields at Chinese universities since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Dominica and China in 2004.
