Grenada signs 13 cooperation agreements with China

The Government of Grenada has officially signed 13 cooperation agreements with the People’s Republic of China, marking a significant milestone in their diplomatic relations.

The agreements span various sectors, including agriculture, energy, renewable energy, arts, culture, tourism, and the blue economy. This achievement also celebrates the 20th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic ties between the two nations, further strengthening China’s commitment to supporting the economy and people of Grenada.

The resumption of diplomatic relations between Grenada and China in 2005 marked the beginning of a journey built on collaboration, mutual understanding, and shared aspirations. Today, we reflect on this journey and proudly affirm that our partnership has brought significant benefits to both the people of Grenada and China, contributing greatly to our national development.

The 13 cooperation agreements were signed by Grenada’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Export Development, Joseph Andall, alongside Minister for Economic Development, Planning, and Cooperatives, as well as Agriculture and Lands, Forestry, and Marine Resources, Lennox Andrews

The cooperation agreements are as follows:

1. Memorandum of Understanding on Exchange and Cooperation in the Field of Economic Development between the National Development and Reform Commission of the PRC and the Ministry of Economic Development, Planning, Agriculture and Lands, Forestry, Marine Resources and Cooperatives of Grenada.

2. Memorandum of Understanding on Deepening Blue Economy Cooperation between the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Economic Development, Planning, Agriculture and Lands, Forestry, Marine Resources and Cooperatives of Grenada.

3. Memorandum of Understanding on Deepening Bilateral Cooperation for Unimpeded Trade between the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development of Grenada.

4. Memorandum of Understanding on Promoting the Implementation of the Global Development Initiative between China International Development Cooperation Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development of Grenada.

5. Exchange of Letters on the Feasibility Study of the Phase-9 China-Grenada Agricultural Technical Cooperation Project.

6. Implementation Plan for Cultural Cooperation (2025-2029) between the Ministry of Tourism and Culture of the PRC and the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Economy, and Culture of Grenada.

7. The Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Export Development of Grenada and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

8. Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation on Green and Low-Carbon Development between the National Development and Reform Commission of the PRC and the Ministry of Climate Resilience, the Environment, and Renewable Energy.

9. Memorandum of Understanding between Yantai City, the People’s Republic of China, and St. George, Grenada, on Promoting Zero-Carbon Island Cooperation.

10. Memorandum of Understanding on Media Exchange and Cooperation between Xinhua News Agency and Government Information Service.

11. Memorandum of Understanding between China Media Group and Government Information Service.

12. Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of Grenada.

13. Cooperation Plan between the Government of the PRC and the Government of Grenada on Jointly Promoting the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
