Enhancing Guyana-China relations via table tennis

In an effort to promote table tennis and create structures that will allow leisure players to participate in competitive leagues, the Peoples Republic of China and the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) have partnered once more to hold an inter-organizational event.

Held in the Guyana Olympic Association office in Liliendaal, the tournament is a cooperative endeavour to promote skill development and fellowship among table tennis enthusiasts.

The Guyana Table Tennis Association's president, Godfrey Munroe, thanked the Chinese government for its unwavering support in growing the game of table tennis in Guyana.

Guo Haiyan, the Chinese ambassador to Guyana, reiterated Munroe's remarks and emphasised the beneficial effects of such measures on the advancement of the game.

Steve Ninvalle, Director of Sport in Guyana, praised the Table Tennis Association for their initiative in setting up the match.

He emphasised the value of using sports to deepen ties between the people of Guyana and China, highlighting the possibility that Guyana may win medals in table tennis.

In addition to giving recreational players a chance to show off their skills and compete in a controlled setting, the competition acts as a platform to strengthen ties and cultural interchange between Guyana and China.
