Reunion hosted for Guyanese alumni of Chinese scholarship

Close to 30 Guyanese graduates attended a reunion party for Guyanese alumni of Chinese scholarships held on June 8, 2024, at the Chinese Embassy in Georgetown.

Mr. Huang Rui and Mr. Li Hanqing, counsellors at the Embassy, also participated. H.E. Mrs. Guo Haiyan, the Chinese ambassador to Guyana, hosted the event.

The 78th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) unanimously adopted a resolution proposed by China on Friday to establish the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, as Ambassador Guo noted in her speech.

The Chinese ambassador used the opportunity to urge all Guyanese graduates to share more stories of the friendship between China and Guyana, including their experiences studying in China, and to contribute more to the mutual understanding, friendship, and cooperation between the two nations.

The graduates talked about their experiences in China, expressed gratitude for the country's technological advancements, economic growth, and easygoing way of life, and stated that they would be eager to apply what they had learned there to further the friendship and collaboration between China and Guyana as well as the development of Guyana.
