The Chinese diplomat promised to support the Association's efforts to organise the Dragon Boat Festival, preserve this traditional Chinese sport in the Bahamas, and highlight the rich cultural diversity of the Bahamas as well as the blending of traditional Chinese and Bahamian cultures, all of which will strengthen ties between
Chinese and Bahamian people.
The third annual Dragon Boat Festival, scheduled for October 12–13, 2024, at Goodmans Bay in The Bahamas, will see several people taking part.
Dragon boat racing is a thrilling water sport that has its roots in Guangdong Province, China's Pearl River Delta region. Large canoe-like vessels with intricately carved dragon heads and tails are designed to hold 22 teams, each of which has paddles and moves in time with the drummer on board.
