Chinese Embassy gifts 22 laptops to Trinidad & Tobago school

The Chinese Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago gifted the San Juan North Secondary School with 22 laptop computers to assist with their teaching.

Chinese Ambassador Fang Qiu presented the equipment to the school's principal, Dabrielle Nurse, who thanked the embassy for the gesture.

The headteacher said the donation will contribute to the recent success the institution has been enjoying in a few subject areas. Just this year, students at the CSEC level would have scored over 80 percent passes in IT.

Students who are pursuing Office Administration and EDPM (Electronic Document Preparation and Management) will also benefit from the laptops that have been donated by the embassy.

The San Juan Secondary School has a long history with the Chinese Embassy. A China-Trinidad & Tobago Friendship Classroom is established. The school has already been granted scholarships and a smart board.

Nurse also declared that they will be exploring language and the arts as a means of learning more about its relationship with China.

In response, Ambassador Qiu asked the students to see this action as more than just an equipment donation. According to him, it represents the friendly, cooperative, and mutually beneficial relationship that our two countries have fostered over the years.

The ambassador highlighted that one of the most important pillars of bilateral relations between the two nations is education. China and Trinidad and Tobago have collaborated on education in recent years, and the results have been remarkable.

China has been offering scholarships to students of Trinidad and Tobago, allowing them to study at some of the finest universities and research institutions in China. These scholarships have created opportunities for many talented young individuals in the Twin Island Republic.
