Chinese ambassador inspects Dominica Int'l Airport Project
The Dominica International Airport Project, being built in Wesley by China Railway No. 5 Engineering Group Co., Ltd., was recently inspected by Chu Maoming, the Chinese ambassador to Dominica.
Ma Zongyao, the project's general manager, and Sun Xinhua, the Chinese Embassy's first secretary and person in charge of the institution's business and economic affairs, was also part of the team that inspected the project.
After carefully reviewing the project team's report on the overall state of affairs and the status of the International Airport Project, Ambassador Chu visited the construction site to assess the project's progress and gave his full endorsement of the team's accomplishments.
According to Ambassador Chu, the International Airport Project is a crucial undertaking of the pragmatic collaboration between China and Dominica, which has garnered significant attention and concern from the Dominican government and other sections of society.
To demonstrate China's speed and quality, he said, the project team should consistently elevate the political position, firmly enforce quality and safety controls, and embody the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC by delivering a high-caliber project.
The project team should, the Chinese envoy added, simultaneously and aggressively carry out its social duty, cultivate the reputation of a conscientious Chinese company, and enhance cooperative outcomes for the benefit of the local populace.
With a 2850-meter runway designed to handle wide-body aircraft, the Dominica International Airport when completed will be able to offer direct flights to major cities in Asia, Europe, and North America.
A large terminal, cutting-edge ATC systems, a central substation, a medical facility, and substantial cargo processing capacity are among the other contemporary features to be added. The airport is being built in accordance with international standards, guaranteeing passengers' comfort, efficiency, and safety.
Considerable progress has been made on the project. However, stone excavation at the terminal area, earthworks, and backfilling and direct dynamic compaction at the culverts are being done right now. These necessary foundational activities will set the stage for the airport's main infrastructure.
