China funds rehabilitation of community centre in Grenada

With funding from the Chinese Embassy in Grenada, the Vincennes Community Centre in St. David has been refurbished and was recently reopened to the public.

The event was attended by MP for St. David Prime Minister of Grenada Dickon Mitchell and Chinese Ambassador H.E. Wei Hongtian, who both participated in the ribbon-cutting and declaration ceremony.

The centre's purpose is to promote social interaction, education, and community involvement in Vincennes and surrounding communities like Syracuse, Dudmar, and Windsor Forest.

Prime Minister Mitchell expressed appreciation on behalf of the government and people of Grenada to the Chinese government for the funding.

He emphasised the importance of the centre to the local people in multiple areas and expressed wishes for more cooperation with the Chinese government.

Ambassador Wei said, as a good friend of the Grenadian people, China is committed to continuing its support and cooperation with brothers and sisters of Grenada.

China and Grenada have cooperated on the basis of mutual understanding, mutual respect, and equality, setting an excellent example for friendly and win-win ties between countries of different sizes and political systems.

The small Caibbean island nation has received huge support in many areas from China over the close to 19 years since it has developed ties.
