Caribbean culture to take centre stage in Beijing

The diverse cultures of the various Caribbean countries will be put on display on Saturday, May 18, in Beijing, China, at the ‘Caribbean Experience 2024.’ at the Terrace of the Marriott Northeast Hotel.

The event is being organised by the Caucus of Caribbean Embassies in Beijing (comprising Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago) in collaboration with the Commercial Office of Haiti.

It will be observed under the theme Celebrating the Culture of Caribbean Countries.” The Caribbean Experience 2024 celebrates the friendship shared between Caribbean countries and the People’s Republic of China and will showcase the culture, tourism, assets, and business opportunities of the Caribbean region.

It will be an evening of sumptuous Caribbean cuisine, their world-famous rums, lively Caribbean entertainment, and more.

A similar event was held in 2023, dubbed "the Caribbean Experience 2023: An Exclusive Immersion of Culture.” It saw several CARICOM countries coming together to present cultural displays and was the first major event to be held in Beijing since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the past year, several Caribbean heads of state have visited China and held talks with President Xi Jinping and his government as they look to forge greater ties with China.
