Antigua & Barbuda to receive support from China to advance pepper production
Antigua and Barbuda has started a training course on hybrid pepper breeding, seed production, and cultivation techniques as a major step to increase the country's agricultural capability, especially in the field of pepper production.
This is being done in partnership with the Agricultural Extension Division, Yuan Longping High-Tech Agriculture Co. Ltd., a prominent Chinese agricultural enterprise renowned for its proficiency in crop breeding and hybrid seed technologies.
The occasion represents a significant milestone in Antigua and Barbuda's endeavours to enhance food security and modernise its agricultural sector.

The course will take place from October 15 to November 13, 2024, at the Villa Polytechnical Clinic. The emphasis will be on providing local farmers with state-of-the-art methods for developing and growing hybrid peppers.
Additionally, this program enhances China-Antigua/Barbuda agricultural cooperation.
Sixty participants, including field workers and technical professionals, from different departments of the country's agricultural ministry will get training and dissemination of the approaches.
