22 Dominica college students receive education grants from China
Several Dominica State College students have received scholarship grants from the People's Republic of China Embassy in Dominica.
Twenty-two college students received cash incentives of US$1,000 each from the embassy on Monday.
Dr. Irving McIntyre, interim prime minister and minister of finance, urged award recipients to remain dedicated to their academic pursuits.
He claimed that the two-year-old embassy-college cooperation demonstrates how much China values Dominica's citizens' education and advancement.
China has consistently shown that genuine friendship is based on deeds that empower and uplift rather than just words.
“We cannot forget that China has for many years also provided opportunities for our young people to gain undergraduate and graduate degrees in China equipping them with cutting-edge skills and knowledge to return home and become productive members of our society,” he added.
Mc Intyre expressed the government’s gratitude for China’s support to Dominica in various investments including education and urged students pursue greater heights.
The People's Republic of China's ambassador to Dominica, His Excellency Chu Maoming presented the students with their scholarships.
According to Maoming, the action demonstrates the close ties between the People's Republic of China and Dominica.
