VIDEO: 2 killed, 47 missing in China landslide

A large landslide that occurred in southwest China on January 22 left at least 47 people trapped in the rubble, while eight of them have been confirmed dead so far, and two more were found injured and were rushed to the hospital.

 

More specifically, the landslide took place at 05:51 a.m. in China’s Zhenxiong County of Yunnan Province and swallowed 18 homes at the Liangshui Village.


Various footage has been released so far, in which the incident took place on a rocky slope that was covered in snow.

 

Chinese President, Xi Jinping, ordered an all-out rescue operation on the site, where sub-zero temperatures are present.

 

It has so far been known that at least 500 people were evacuated from their homes in the area, while roughly 1,000 rescue personnel, along with 200 vehicles, were dispatched for the search and rescue operation.

 

Finally, the reasons behind the landslide have not been made known yet.
